Bloom 1: Thistledown
My first day owning the bookshop and the first day of Bloom, how exciting! The townsfolk were eager to have someone step in after the last keeper disappeared. Fortunately, they kept the place clean enough, if a bit stale. There are some plants here that are still green even though Brisk just ended. I put away my clothes in the dresser before making myself a cup of tea. I made myself comfortable in one of the chairs as the sun rose.
The weather was clear and sunny all day so I opened up the doors and windows as I stocked the shelves with some books I gathered from my travels. If it wasnt a holiday I'm sure we would've been full up. I only had a few books so I finished up quickly and headed to the celebrations. The warmth was so nice after such a long Brisk. The chatter of the townsfolk and roar of the fires invited me closer. They said I had to get in the river! The icy cold river that hadnt even fully thawed! They had given me the boat and thus a place to live. How could I say no? So I dove in and it was as cold as the sea spray I used to work on. It only lasted a second though, before they pulled me up, and wrapped me in towels as they sat me by the fire. A shrew gave me steaming mug of cider that warmed me from the inside out. She sat next to me and introduced herself as Peony. She was one of the folks who wanted the shop to reopen. I told her I was mighty glad to have a place so well loved to take care of. She introduced me around to some other soggy animals but there was so much going on, hers was the only name I remembered. She also gave me some spices when I left, so I could make my own cider on my travels.

P.S. Apparently the point of the festival was so the river could wash away the past. So I'm hoping this year is going to be a lot less stressful than the last.
